What to do in Puerto Princesa
Like the rest of the island of Palawan, Puerto Princesa is surrounded by islands of incredible beauty, bathed by turquoise waters full of life and an environment of high natural value. The main attractions of Puerto Princesa would be:
NAVIGATING THE UNDERGROUND RIVER
Located in the nearby town of Sabang, the Subterranean River Natural Park is undoubtedly the main tourist attraction in Puerto Princesa. Recognized as a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1999 and proposed as one of the 7 Wonders of the World in 2012, its navigable underground part is considered one of the longest in the world. Once at the park entrance and after waiting for the turn to enter the cave that gives access to the river, a canoe ride of about 45 minutes begins. Inside the river, the game of galleries, with stalactites and stalagmites is honestly something worth seeing.
To be able to go you must do it through some of the numerous tour agencies that are in the city. The park does not admit tickets for the same day, so it is not possible to go free.
ISLAND HOPPING AT HONDA BAY
Another very popular activity in Puerto Princesa is to do a day trip or Island Hopping through Honda Bay. Honda Bay is famous for the islets and white sand beaches that make it up which include Starfish Island, Luli Island and Cowrie Island. These tours allow you to get to know the islands with enough time.
TOUR LUCIÉRNAGAS BY THE IWAHIG RIVER
The area of the Iwahig River and the mangroves that surround it is the perfect place to enjoy a tour or Ihawig Firefly Watching at night to see the colorful fireflies that live in the area. If the day is perfect, you can enjoy hundreds of fireflies in the nearly 40 minutes of the tour.
ENJOY THE BEST MARISCO IN THE NIGHT MARKET
Puerto Princesa is famous for being one of the best places to eat fresh seafood. The best thing to do is visit the famous Night Market or Baywalk Night Market at night. The seafood is sold fresh and cooked in the same market. Although it is visited by tourists, it still maintains its local atmosphere.
